Ten years ago, NBC would have simply refused to run the ad I mentioned yesterday, and that would have been the end of it. Sure, a few radio hosts and talk show commentators may have beat them up a bit, but they would have been able to operate essentially with impunity.
Welcome to the 21st century, NBC, where every user of the Internet can call you on the carpet for doing something wrong.
Thanks to a huge amount of pressure from the Blogosphere and a little boycott call from Newt Gingrich, NBC has reversed its decision and has agreed to run the Freedom's Watch ad thanking the troops.
American citizens are becoming more powerful than a multi-billion dollar broadcasting company, and that's good news for everyone.
Well, except NBC.
