Study: Fox News Channel Most Balanced on 2008 Candidates

A new study by George Mason University's Center for Media and Public Affairs says that FNC's evening news program is the most balanced of the news networks.

In the comparison of the major news networks and Fox News Channel, the study found that Fox News reports on Democratic presidential contenders were 51 percent positive and 49 percent negative, while for Republican contenders the percentages were 49 percent positive and 51 percent negative. For the three major news networks, the study found that reporting of Democratic candidates was 47 percent positive and 53 percent negative, and reports on Republican candidates was 40 percent positive and 60 percent negative.

Basically, this is something we knew already, and they are just making it official. It is really funny to see this, because with all the flak the Left wingers give Fox, they actually showed the Democrat candidates in a favorable light more often than the Republicans.

Who Needs a Border Fence? The Democrat Majority Apparently Doesn't

For all of their bluster and their lies that they want to help protect the country, they just took another huge step towards destroying it.

Since President Bush signed H.R. 2764 into law, it will essentially repeal the Secure Border Act of last year, and it means that there is longer be any legal requirements to construct ANY fence whatsoever.

Keep in mind that the places along the border where the double layered fence were installed,illegal crossings were seriously reduced:

As part of the 1996 Illegal Immigration Reform Act (P.L. 104-208), Rep. Hunter authored the legislative language mandating a 14-mile triple fence along the San Diego-Mexico land border, which augmented the single layer fence he had built with surplus landing-matt in 1989. Since then he has worked, most notably against strong opposition of the Clinton Administration, to see that project completed. Since construction of the San Diego fence began:

Illegal alien apprehensions along the fenced region dropped from over 202,000 in 1992 to about 9,000 in 2004. Further, it is estimated that the apprehensions vs. attempts ratio increased to over 90%;

With the establishment of the San Diego border fence, crime rates in San Diego have fallen off dramatically. According to the FBI Crime Index, crime in San Diego County dropped 56.3% between 1989 to 2000;

Vehicle drive-throughs in the region have fallen from between 6 to 10 per day before the construction of border infrastructure, to only 4 drive-throughs in 2004 and those occurred only where the secondary fence is incomplete;

The fence has forced drug smugglers, who once easily crossed the San Diego border, to attempt to enter the U.S. through major ports of entry instead. This significantly increases the likelihood of discovery and seizure of illegal narcotics entering our country.

As a result of the success of the San Diego fence, Rep. Hunter authored the provisions of the Secure Fence Act calling for the construction of 854 miles of border fence along the five most prolific smuggling corridors on the Southwest border. While construction of the Secure Fence project is not moving as rapidly as Rep. Hunter would like, the Administration is moving forward and as of September 30, 2007, 70 miles of new border pedestrian fence has been constructed. Congressman Hunter remains engaged in ensuring that the Administration meets the mandates put in place by the Secure Fence Act and secures our borders as rapidly as possible.

This is typical of the Democrats, though. These provisions are just snuck into the bill as well. If you read the whole thing, you'll see that it is mostly a spending bill, with the border defense destruction hidden way down deep.

On top of the immigration fence problems, the whole thing is totally full of pork...but that's a whole other topic.

I'm so sick of this Congress.

Why I'm Frustrated With the Republican Field for '08

The 2008 Republican Candidates

Question: “What are your thoughts
about < insert topic here >?”

Rudy Guiliani:
“When I was mayor of New York, I did a lot of important things. You know that right? Do you? And you, do you know? Ok good. Remember: important things, mayor of New York. What was the question?”

Tom Tancredo:
“We need to enforce the border! That will solve the problem! Deport the illegals! The border! Illegals! The border!”

John McCain:
“My colleagues believe I am wasting my time with you, but I believe you wish to do the right thing. We understand you have been contacted by a certain…individual, a man who calls himself “Obama.” Now, whatever you may think you know about this man is irrelevant. He is considered by many authorities to be the most unqualified presidential candidate alive. Get it? It’s a joke! It’s a movie line, but I changed it so it’s about Obama! Funny, huh? Hahaha. I think it’s funny.”

Ron Paul:
“Our policies have failed, Bush has failed, our people have failed, the war has failed. Air has failed; why are we still breathing air? It’s the Bush Administration’s fault. We can’t go it alone. You can’t go it alone! Air is bad for you, you know. Under my tenure, I will abolish air, because it has failed. Hey you whippersnappers, get off my lawn! We have failed, I have failed, you have failed. Our foreign policy, our foreign policy, our foreign policy…I’m sorry, that’s an exercise my therapist tells me to do when my Alzheimer’s kicks in, you have to repeat things three times, three times, three times. We have failed! Where’s Bin Laden! I want to surrender to him, cause we’ve failed! We’re done; let’s be a subsidy of Al Qaeda! It’s over! We’ve failed! September 11 was an inside job, but they failed! Wait, no, they didn’t, but we did. Or they failed and we didn’t? I just…FAIL! YOU! FAIL!”

Duncan Hunter:
“I call on Ron Paul to rescind his comments, or I’ll show him how Reagan era Republicans handle things. Oh, yeah? Bring it on old man; I got miles of double-layered fencing installed on the border, and it reduced illegal alien interceptions in my district by 93%. You think I can’t kick your sorry ass all over this stage? Well, you’re wrong. Oh, and let’s bomb Syria, Pakistan, Iran, China, North Korea and Turkey. After that, we’ll take down Libya and the UAE, followed by Turkmenistan, France, Germany, Denmark and possibly Massachusetts. After we annex Canada and sink Mexico into the ocean to keep the South Americans from getting up here, we need to mine the oceans, put missiles on the moon and shoot down all those Russian satellites. Did I mention we’re bombing Russia? Well we are.”

Fred Thompson:
“Uh. Uhhh. Uhh. Well. Uhh. Well. In 2008. Uhh. As President…well. Uhh. Well.”

Mike Huckabee:
“We really don’t need all this aggression at each other; I’m not going to stoop to these shallow personal attacks. We need to save that aggression for the godless Mormons like Mitt Romney and devil worshipping Democrats like Hillary Clinton. They are the real enemies here. But we don’t need the personal attacks.”

Sam Brownback:
“I’m against the surge in the Iraq for the surge against the surge for the surge Iraq Bush policy against but I’m for Iraq I’m Catholic but against and for and against and Iraq and I am dropping out now bye thanks.”

Mitt Romney:
“Guiliani sucks!”

Hulk Hogan Says a Gladiator Should Pummel Rosie O'Donnell

How hilarious is this?

O'Donnell, predictably, responded in her usual unintelligent, pigheaded manner, trying to integrate an idiotic slam at the War in Iraq into the drivel she spews on her blog. Maybe it's just me, but that looks and sounds like the blog of some insecure pre-teen...which I find fitting.

I always thought she was dumb when I HEARD her speak. Seeing how she writes, well...I think a match of wits between her and a semi-vegetative squirrel would be a hilarious, door-to-door, down to the wire match-up that many would pay to see.

Blogosphere 1, NBC 0

Ten years ago, NBC would have simply refused to run the ad I mentioned yesterday, and that would have been the end of it. Sure, a few radio hosts and talk show commentators may have beat them up a bit, but they would have been able to operate essentially with impunity.

Welcome to the 21st century, NBC, where every user of the Internet can call you on the carpet for doing something wrong.

Thanks to a huge amount of pressure from the Blogosphere and a little boycott call from Newt Gingrich, NBC has reversed its decision and has agreed to run the Freedom's Watch ad thanking the troops.

American citizens are becoming more powerful than a multi-billion dollar broadcasting company, and that's good news for everyone.

Well, except NBC.

The Peacock Network Strikes Again

The NBC network, continuing its ongoing mission of trashing our military, refused to run an ad supporting the troops.

They claim it's because they don't want a political message shown; the ad was paid for by Freedom's Watch, a conservative organization, and they posted their website address in the final frame of the message thanking the troops.

Click here for the first video and here for the second video.

I have to wonder if the ad was posted by MoveOn.org if NBC would have had the same issue? Not that I think that MoveOn would ever in a million years publish something supporting the troops, of course; it's just a hypothetical point.

Regardless, this article makes a legitimate point; is the political statement the web address at the end of the ad, or the refusal to run the ad?

A Failed Congress

An excellent read.

I think that it is quite interesting that for all the huffing and puffing about the President's approval rating, it is now a full 11 points higher than Overlord Pelosi's ramshackle collection of crack addicts and Harry "Cut'n'Run" Reid's troope of hooker-killers.
