GOP Primary Predictions: Florida

Florida Primary (winner take all, January 29)

Fifty-seven delegates. That's what's at stake in this contest, and with Florida being winner-take-all, whoever wins is going to have a nice jump into Super Tuesday.

Despite the fact that the polls show a lot closer of a contest, I think McCain is going to open it up a bit over Romney because the latter got pretty hammered at the last debate. Huckabee will pull off a third, and Giuliani will watch his campaign go up in smoke as the state he most heavily campaigned will reward him with a lukewarm fourth place finish.

If McCain wins, the delegate count heading into Super Tuesday will be as follows:

McCain - 93
Romney - 59
Huckabee - 40

That's still a wide open race; California, New York and my good old Illinois are going to play huge roles on Super Tuesday, but unless Romney wins Florida, I really can't say that any of the three will be the "front runner" come February 5.

My Predictions:

1. John McCain - 32%
2. Mitt Romney - 28%
3. Mike Huckabee - 19%
4. Rudy Giuliani - 15%
5. Ron Paul - 6%
